Host Odisha came a cropper in the East Zone U-19 Women Cricket Tournament as they finished at the bottom of the league table, losing all of their four matches. Bengal beat host Odisha by eight wickets in their last-round league match of the here at Nimpur Ground today.
Put into bat, Odisha posted a meager total of 84 in 50 overs with extras making the highest contribution of 21 runs. Only two Odisha batters were able to reach the double digits. S Aich was the most successful Bengal bowler, taking three wickets for 17 runs.
In reply, Bengal overhauled the target in 27.5 overs, losing two wickets in the process. Richa was the top scorer for the winners with an unbeaten 46. This was the third win for Bengal and they finished runners-up with 12 points from four matches.
Jharkhand emerged champions, winning all four of their league matches and finishing at the top of the table with 16 points. Odisha occupied the bottom place in the five-team league, losing all of their four matches.
